Objective

The objective of NMVLL shall be to implant firmly in the children of the community the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, and courage. They shall be encouraged to show respect for authority and for their community and others. By attaining these ideals they may be
better-adjusted, stronger and happier children and will grow to be good, decent, healthy and trustworthy citizens.

To achieve this objective, NMVLL will provide a supervised program under the Rules and Regulations of Little League Baseball, Incorporated. All Directors (Article VI), Officers (Article VII), and Members (Article III) shall bear in mind that the attainment of exceptional athletics skill or the winning of games is secondary, and the molding of future citizens is of prime importance. In accordance with Section 501-(c)-(3) of the Federal Internal Revenue Code, the Local League shall operate exclusively as a non-profit educational organization providing a supervised program of competitive baseball games. No part of the net earnings shall inure to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual. No substantial part of the activities
of NMVLL shall be carrying on propaganda, or otherwise attempting to influence legislation; and NMVLL shall not participate in or intervene in any political campaign on behalf of any candidate for public office.

Our Seasons

At NMVLL we have two seasons:  Spring and Fall.

The Spring Season is our most competitive program.  Typically, registration begins in October, with player evaluations in January, teams formed in February and play from March until late May.

Once the season begins, teams usually average 3-4 games or practices each week, which may include Saturdays.  We typically try to avoid Sunday games.

There is usually post-season competition like the Tournament of Champions and Little League All-Star programs, which involve players over League Age 8 and teams AA and higher.  There is never a post-season for T-Ball, Coach Pitch, or Single A. These programs are at the behest of the Board and no player is guaranteed a spot on post-season teams.  Post-season play usually begins in early June and depending on how far a team advances goes into July.

Our Fall Ball program is a more relaxed baseball experience and focuses on fundamentals.  If your child is new to Little League, the Fall Ball program is a great way to get them started on the right foot.  Fall Ball teams typically meet just one day a week, with an optional weekend day practice. Weekend Fall Ball games are usually on Sunday to allow soccer teams to have the fields on Saturdays.

Fall Ball registration usually happens over the summer with play & practice beginning in September and ending in November before Thanksgiving.

You can learn more about how to register a player by scrolling down the page.

Registration Fees vary by season and are at the discretion of the Board.

Spring Ball fees are higher and generally cover your player’s full uniform (jersey, socks, belt and cap), and an end-of-season keepsake.
Fall Ball fees are lower and cover a practice jersey and hat.

Your player is responsible for bringing their personal baseball equipment (Little League approved-bat, batting helmet and fielding glove).  We also suggest that your player always have plenty of water and sunscreen.  A baseball backpack or gear bag is recommended to carry equipment and extras to and from the fields.

How Do I Register My Child?

The best way to stay informed of open registrations is to follow NMVLL on Instagram and Facebook as we will always post updates there, as well as on the NMVLL.org home page.

We have recently move to a new sports management software, Sports Connect, for our league communication, registration and payments.  If you are on our mailing list you will receive update emails on registration windows.  Otherwise, you will need to monitor NMVLL.org or NMVLL on Instagram and Facebook for open registrations.

Our registration windows are open for at least 3 weeks and for some seasons we do offer early-bird pricing.

Since there are three leagues in Mission Viejo alone, it is important you confirm your correct league by using the Little League Finder.

League eligibility is determined in two ways:

1. Home Residence - If you live within the area of the boundary map, NMVLL is your league.

2. School Enrollment - If you do not live within the area of the boundary map, but your athlete’s school is located within this area, you are eligible for NMVLL once the league verifies that the school your player attends is an NMVLL-located school.

There is a School Enrollment verification form in the Helpful Documents section.

Should you have any questions, please email to review the options available for play in NMVLL.

You can find more information about our league by looking in the Documents section under the About Us section.

Our Divisions

TEE BALL DIVISION

Tee Ball is our youngest division, designed for children of league age 4 to 6.  It's not just a clever name- in this division kids hit the ball off a batting tee instead of swinging at a pitched ball. The rules of baseball are adjusted in order to accommodate teaching our youngest players the fundamentals. The primary goals of Tee Ball are to teach children hitting, fielding, and teamwork.

This is a non-competitive division. No score is kept during the game and everyone bats every inning. Base paths are set at 45 feet and rosters typically have 10-11 players. Parental involvement is highly encouraged. Sometimes Tee Ball is a bit like herding cats and coaches appreciate an extra hand on the field or in the dugout. Most important- Tee Ball is FUN! The memories created in this division will last a lifetime.

COACH PITCH DIVISION

They've mastered the tee so what's next? Our Coach Pitch Division is designed for children of league age 5 to 7. In this division players swing at a live ball, pitched to them by their coach from a kneeled or crouched position. There are typically 10-11 players on a team and base paths are set at 50 feet. This is a developmental division with no official scorekeeping. Parent involvement is still strongly encouraged at this non-competitive level.

SINGLE A DIVISION

Welcome to machine pitch! Single A is designed for children of league age 6 to 8. This is still a developmental division with official scorekeeping for the season, beyond making sure that no more than 5 runs are scored per half inning. Players attend a player evaluation and teams are formed based on a draft. Player evaluations determine whether or not a player is ready to move up a division and help to create more balanced teams. Rosters have 10-11 players. Bases are set at a 60-foot distance and the pitching distance is 38 feet.  Players get 5 pitches per at bat until they hit or strike out.

These games can be very exciting.  It isn't unusual to see teams scoring more than 20 runs in a single game!

AA DIVISION

They are ready for the big time now! AA is the first competitive division in Little League, designed for league age 7-10 year old children. Players attend a player evaluation and teams are formed based on a draft. Player evaluations determine whether or not a player is ready to move up a division and help to create more balanced teams.

Rosters are composed of 12 players, the diamond is 60 feet, and the pitching distance is 46 feet. Blue book rules will be followed.  Minimum playing time and mandatory infield/outfield rules are enforced. Score and standings are kept throughout the season, ending with a playoff tournament to determine the division champions. Some players will be eligible to play on a NMVLL All-Star team if selected and a team is being formed.

AAA DIVISION

AAA is designed for players who are of league age 9-11. All players attend a player evaluation and teams are formed based on a draft. Player evaluations determine whether or not a player is ready to move up a division and help to create more balanced teams.

Rosters are composed of 12 players, the diamond is 60 feet, and the pitching distance is 46 feet. Score and standings are kept throughout the season, ending with a playoff tournament to determine the division champions. Some players will be eligible to play on an All-Star team if selected.

MAJORS DIVISION

This is the division that Little League World Series dreams are made of! Majors is designed for children of league ages 10-12.

Majors teams are comprised of the players that you see when you watch the Little League World Series.

JUNIORS

The Junior Division, which is managed by District 68, is for players who are of league age 13 and 14 years old.  After a player has aged out of Majors, this is the division they should go into.  All players attend a player evaluation and teams are formed based on a draft. Rosters are composed of at least 12 players, the diamond is 90 feet, and the pitching distance is 60 feet and 6 inches. Games are played with "full baseball rules". Teams play inter-league games with teams from other leagues within District 68.  Score and standings are kept throughout the season, ending with a playoff tournament of champions.

League Age

Your player’s league age is determined by the Little League Baseball®  Age Charts.  The dates for baseball determines the division in which your Little Leaguer will play this season. The Age Determination Date for a Little League Baseball player is the actual age of a child on August 31 of the current year.

Division assignment is based on player evaluations (for League ages 6 and above - Division Single A and above) and at the discretion of the league's Player Agent, but we will do our best to accommodate your wishes.

Where We Play

All Home games for NMVLL are held at the Marty Russo Youth Athletic Park on Olympiad across from the main entrance to Lake Mission Viejo.   The address is 22056 Olympiad Rd., Mission Viejo CA 92692.

We share this facility with South Mission Viejo Little League.

For our Upper Divisions (AAA, Majors, Juniors)  there are away games but almost always within the borders of District 68 in Southern Orange County.

You may view a Field Map on our Fields section under the About Us section.

Powered by Volunteers

North Mission Viejo Little League (NMVLL) is an all-volunteer baseball organization that strives to implant in the youth of our community the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage and respect. Our league seeks to support our players and help build self-esteem through coaching and quality instruction that promotes the development of baseball skills.

We are dedicated to having a positive influence in the lives of our players and their families by promoting fair play, confidence, a diligent work ethic, camaraderie and a lasting respect for the game of baseball. Our goal is to create a culture in which coaches, parents, fans, officials and athletes work together to achieve this mission.

NMVLL  Baseball is for players league age 4 through 14 and teaches them the basics of baseball in a fun and safe environment. We offer Tee Ball, Coach Pitch, Single-A, Double-A, Triple-A, Major, and Junior Divisions. Your athlete will be assigned to the appropriate division based on age and tryouts.

Everything in our league - since its founding in 1975 - is powered by volunteers:  Board, coaches, umpires, scorekeepers, the snack bar and more.

Each season a dedicated group of parents work tireless hours - most while being fully employed elsewhere - to ensure each child has a rich & rewarding baseball experience.

If you are interested in learning about our volunteer opportunities, please see the Volunteer section below.

Volunteer Opportunities

North Mission Viejo Little League uses baseball as our way to support the children, families, and community of Mission Viejo. We are a completely volunteer based organization...from parents on the bleachers at practice, to managers and coaches on the field, to the snack bar, the Board of Directors, etc.  All.....VOLUNTEERS for the fabulous kids that we are here to support, grow and develop.

Whatever talents or skills you have, we can use them!  As a volunteer, you have the opportunity to spend quality time with your child in a safe, fun-filled environment. The benefits of volunteering in youth sport are endless. NMVLL provides all of the support and instruction you need to get started.  We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with all of our volunteers.  We recognize that our volunteers are the backbone of our league.

Similar to other sports, we need a village of Volunteers to pull off an entire season.  Each team has:

  • Manager - email [email protected] for more details
  • 2 Coaches (plus a few extra helpers at practice)
  • Scorekeepers
  • Pitch Count (AA & Above)
  • Umpires - email [email protected] for more information
  • Field Crew
Additionally, each family is expected to help fill shifts in our Snack Bar on game days. More information regarding Snack Bar volunteering will be given through your Team Parent.

If you are interested in volunteering please complete the volunteer form while registering your child.
