Team Mom Tips and Responsibilities
Welcome and thank you for volunteering your time to be this season's team moms. Here are some helpful tips to get you through the season.
Review all flyers received at the first team mom meeting to prepare for your first team meeting.
Prepare a flyer (and folders to hold all the information to pass out at the first meeting for each family for your team to manage their expectations of the season and the involvement necessary from each parent to make the league a success. Include key dates and events - communication with the parents is key.
Pass out index cards for each family to fill out name, contact info, email, shirt size for player and any other key information you might need to know about the player.
Team fee - at the first meeting, you should collect a team fee to cover sleeves (for the younger teams if coach wants), coach's shirts, banner for teams AAA and below, mid-season pizza party. $30 from each player should work great ($20 if no banner).
Team roster - if the manager doesn't prepare this, make sure it gets done. Pass out the roster with names, phone numbers, emails. Also see if there is carpool interest and get those families together.
Banner - stay on the manager about assigning numbers to players so that you can get the banner ordered and have it for Picture Day.
Snack Bar - get a snack bar supervisor to help coordinate shifts the team is responsible for and remind parents when it is their turn to work. Any team that does not fulfill their snack bar duty may lose the chance to participate in the end of season tournament.
Bathroom breaks - please take any player to the rest rooms. Do NOT let them go by themselves. If you are unavailable, ask a parent to run them to the rest room. The buddy system works well for players as well.
Monthly team mom meetings - please attend as each meeting is important.
